Wiaan Mulder, the South African bowling allrounder, hit his first Test century in the ongoing Bangladesh vs South Africa 2nd Test of the series in Chattogram as South Africa continued their scoring spree on October 30 (Wednesday), declaring the first innings on 577-6. The maiden Test ton by Mulder was a special one as he became the third player from the same team to score a maiden century in this match. Earlier, the Proteas batsmen, Tony de Zorzi and Tristan Stubbs had also achieved their respective maiden centuries in Chattogram.
South Africa won the toss and opting to bat first with 1-0 lead in the series. The start went pretty well by the skipper Aiden Markram and Zorzi but Markram was dismissed on a score of 33 runs. Stubbs joined with Zorzi and built up a 201 run partnership. Both Zorzi and Stubbs scored hundreds as Zorzi reached 177 runs while Stubbs took 106 runs. Zorzi even put together 116 runs with David Bedingham prior to South Africa having gone four wickets back in a row. The southern African side, that lead by 1-0 was to bat first while Aiden Markram along with Zorzi give a good head start as Markram got dismissed on being lost on 33 runs. However, Stubbs joined with Zorzi to stage a 201-run stand. Both Zorzi and Stubbs were declared their respective hundreds as Zorzi made 177 and Stubbs 106 runs. Zorzi further combined with David Bedingham to make a 116-run stand before South Africa lost four quick wickets.
With Bangladesh looking all around set to shut the innings of South Africa, Mulder went ahead to partner with Senuran Muthusamy as they managed to hold the partnership up to 150 runs while helping their side bring in the third hundred in the innings. The two made 105 runs off 150 balls together.
South Africa declared the innings on 577-6 with Mulder remaining not out on 105 and Muthusamy remaining not out 70 runs.
